About Us
Bright Hope Laurel United Methodist Church is really two churches (not so much because we are a merged congregation) but because our full-time residents in the winter months are joined by our summer residents from all over the country. We average in attendance of about 35 from mid-October to mid-April and then double in size. This is a very eclectic congregation with many different religious backgrounds. We are Methodists, Baptists, Lutherans, Presbyterians, Catholics, Episcopalians, Pentecostals and many non-denominational. We are Republicans, Democrats and Independents. But we all work together for the Glory of God!
Our preaching and teaching is lectionary-based and are very much committed to Matthew 25:31-46. Jesus would say, “all are welcome here!” All are welcomed as members, friends and are included in all areas of church leadership.
We are very mission-minded: we offer scholarships every Spring for local students who desire to further their education; we assist our neighbors with heating assistance and a food pantry; every September we hold an Apple Butter Festival that is attended by folks from all over Madison County. All the proceeds from that Festival (usually between $8,000 and $12,000) are used for local, state, national and world missions.
We welcome all persons who are looking for a spiritual experience that is grounded on the ministry of Jesus Christ to come and join us
