Wall of Wonder

Dear Church Family,

This Sunday will be a bit different, and I want to invite you to embrace it fully!
In our worship service we will be celebrating Ascension Sunday, which calls to remembrance the moment Jesus rose to sit at the right hand of the Father, leaving the disciples to do his work here on Earth. We will mark this occasion with generation-friendly teachings and activities during morning worship, and we will end our time in the sanctuary with The Great Thanksgiving.

After Worship, I would like to invite you all to stay for our First Sunday Fellowship Potluck. We will eat good food, fellowship, and during our time together we will also take part in a conversation designed to reflect on our history as Bright Hope Laurel. Please come ready to share a few key memories from the past 50 years—big or small! Bring old photos, newsletters, or objects from the past if you have them. This will be a joyful, interactive experience for all ages.

Also, if you can, please spend some time contemplating these questions, and bring the answers with you Sunday:

  • When did you first participate in worship and/or ministry at Bright Hope Laurel? What brought you here?
  • What is a worship service or sermon you’ll never forget?
  • When was a time the church supported you or your family?
  • What is a favorite memory from an outreach event or community project?
  • Who was a leader, staff person, or volunteer who shaped your faith?
  • What joyful or funny moments do you remember?
  • What challenges did the church face–and how did you pull through?

I’m looking forward to sharing this time of remembrance with you all!

Sincerely,
Pastor Shonnie
